Tickled Pink with Nuvo Shimmer Powders

Happy Tuesday! We're still waiting for Spring her in Cornwall as the rain and greyness continue. Since It's my day off today I thought I'd have another look at the backgrounds I made and set to make a card with one.
I made these backgroounds with the Nuvo Shimmer Powders in hopes of making some cards with them. And today I did just that.
Materials Used
Die Cutting Machine - Tangerine
Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat (dope!)

Nuvo - Shimmer Powder - Cherry Bomb - 1209N

Nuvo - Shimmer Powder - Solar Flare - 1210N

Shocking Pink Glow Nuvo Drops
Candy Pink Hexagons - Nuvo Confetti
Watercolourd Card Goldline Studio Pad
Cheesecloth
Tonic Studios Patchwork Perfection Die (heart)
Black micro twine
Gel Medium
Foam Pads
Stapler
Paint brush
Spritz bottle
Printer
Initially I made this as one of my backgrounds by simply adding some Cherry Bomb and Solar Flare Shimmer Powders to watercolour card.
Tape your background to a piece of copier paper and put it through a printer to add a quote or phrase of your saying. Sometimes the stamps you have just don't say what you need.
You may have noticed that there is more colour on this card. Once I'd printed it, the colour wasn't as balanced as I'd have liked it to be, so I thought I'd see if the ink would hold up to getting wet and I think it did pretty well!
I die cut a heart from another piece of shimmered watercolour card in the same colours twice; cheesecloth and twine and finished off with Nuvo drops and a little confetti.
It really was that easy. I love this card and it's going to a very special friend who has a habit of reminding me to keep in the company of positive people. She inspires me so much and so this is especially for her.
I really like adding inserts to my card and with all that white space, why not. I made little squares with the shimmer powders, let dry and then spritzed with water. I also cut out a white strip to write a message and stapled them to the card. Again, who says we have to use glue all the time.
The insert pulls the whole card together. The longer I papercraft, the more relaxed I become about rules and what should go on a greeting card. I think I'm finally starting to develop my own style and to just let things happen. Finally!

I hope that you've enjoyed my post today. Never be afraid to try new things. I spent two days creating backgrounds and really getting to grips with how the shimmer powders work. I was surprised my printer printed over the powder - I'm super excited about that!
Enjoy your day and I'll see you very soon.
Lots of love and hugs
Jennifer xx
