Flower Power

Good afternoon, everyone.
I'm writing this after a long day at the cinema yesterday watching Infinity War - twice! My husband has been very ill and this was his first outing -the movie was fantastic! If I've missed your blog the past couple weeks, I do apologise. Paul is on the mend and we're all looking forward to everything returning to normal.
I did manage to make a card last week with one of my new stamps from Craftwork Cards. It's a beauty and has become very popular in their Facebook Group - lots of gorgeous cards made with it! The stamp set is called Birthday Bloom and you can see it here
I know this isn't my usual tutorial but I still hope that you enjoy my card, which was made for my friend Karen, who lives in Wales and has just started a new job. I don't send cards often enough so hope she likes this one.
More often than not I make my own backgrounds but not always. There are some fantastic paper pads our there and I've used the Craftwork Cards Vivids you can buy here. I did add more ink and texture to the paper, but if you don't like messy, it's already done for you.

To make
I started with the stamp and had no colour scheme in mind. I stamped in my journal in Black Shadow (watercolour and alcohol marker friendly) and added some colour with my Aqua Flows and shimmer powders. I just started mixing the colours until I was happy.
I needed 3 layers so made similar images.
You can see that I've started to layer up my images, fussy cutting very carefully the flower and the leaves.
Now that I had my colours, I needed to make a background. I love making my own backgrounds but I grabbed my CWC Vivids paper pad and there was a perfect sheet inside, and that was that. I added some crackle texture paste using my crafter's workshop stencil and added some more pink colour with the cherry Bomb Shimmer Powder until I was happy with the texture.
I added glitter and drops to the stamped image and made a small panel for the sentiment, and then shaping all the corners with my corner punch.
I added some elements to the inside of my card which are just perfect and used a faber-castell artist pen to make a border on the white card insert.
I then added a little more texture paste to the sentiment panel to finish.
Hope you have a great weekend and until next time...

lots of love and hugs
Jennifer xx
