USB Digital Crafting using Watercolours (yes it can be done)!

Hi there!
Today I thought I’d do something a little different and make a few cards using Craftwork Cards USB’s. For this tutorial, we will stick to the basics, which is simply - click and print.
Materials you will need:
Craftwork Cards USB Sophisticate – Sentment / Inspired Illustrations –Sunflower
Craftwork Cards Digital Card – white
Neenah Sand Cardstock (OMG I LOVE THIS)
White Cardstock or Card blanks
Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive
White Gel Pen#
Nuvo Aquaflow Glitter Gloss Pen
Craft Perfect Cardstock
Faber Castell Albrecht Durer Watercolour Pencils
Nude Clean Colour Pen
Step 1
Simply open the page you want and hit print. The only adjustment I had to make was the button which said ‘fill page’. I changed this to ‘shrink to fit’ and printed.
I’ve used the sand card stock for the purpose of this tutorial as it is different to the standard white we usually print off of. As we are using a digital image, take care when laying down colour with water as the ink may bleed. If you’re gentle, this won’t be a problem. I initially used a nude Kuretake Clean Colour Pen to cover all the petals.
Add Cadmium Yellow mixed with a little water. Let dry completely after each colour as this will protect your paper and keep your colours vivid.
Now add Dark Chrome Yellow to your petals, following the shading in the image. You can add a few layers of colour here, remembering to allow to dry completely before adding more. This is essential to keeping your paper smooth looking.
Now add Dark Cadmium Orange to the petals over a couple layers. Take your walnut brown and fill in the centre of the flower and filling in some detail throughout your flower.
Use Earth Green Yellowish and Light Green for the stalk.
This is the time when you may want to tinker with highlights and shading with the colours already used – I fiddled with it for another 15 mins or so before the colours looked ok for me.
Once completely dry, try not to go as completely insane with the white gel pen as I have!
I selected a sentiment sheet from the Sophisticate USB and once again just printed, cut out and mat and layered everything up and popped on to a 5.5” x 4.25” Card blank. Having decided on autumnal cardstock for the border, I adhered everything together and voila!
Using the same technique and colours on white cardstock, you see that the Craftwork Cards Digital Card holds up just as well. Look how vivid the sunflower is!
Again I used the white base but this time it’s another 5.5” x 4.25” card.
Here is a close-up so you can really see how well the colours blend and that the original printed image is still there.
You can really see the individual layers of colour up close. I finished with flicking some Nuvo Aquaflow Glitter Gloss over the card for a little shimmer.
The finished Standard 6” x 6” Craftwork Cards card blank – sunflower card.
The Trio as a set.
Hope this gets you thinking about digital crafting and using different mediums. I didn’t think using watercolours would be possible with a digital image but I gave it a go and made three neat cards.

Until next time
Lots of love and hugs
